About Craig Watanabe
I love photography. When my good friend Wesley Tam in middle school showed me his Yashica Electro 35 rangefinder camera back in the early 70's and glanced at the world in front of me thru that bright viewfinder in brackets, I knew this is what I wanted to do.
Like seeing framed artwork in motion I could create what I always wanted to but couldn't. From film to digital I progressed from my Olympus OM-1 35mm SLR to my present Canon 5D MK II DSLR. Being a technical person, photographs allow me to express my vision thru my camera lens. It is my way of showing others what I see in this beautiful world of ours.
Living in Hawaii on the Big Island allows me to share this wonderful island with it's flora and fauna and its diversity of natural beauty. I love the Big Island so much I can't stop taking pictures of it! Now I can share these images with you in ways I've been pondering how for some time. Please look thru my photographs and email me with your thoughts.
Mahalo (Thank You) for your support!!
